After wrapping up my private tour of the costume exhibition, the sensational Anna Hagert treated me to lunch at STORA BAGERIET (The Big Bakery), located in the very same building as the museum! 🍽️ The location is actually one of Stockholm's greatest treasures: the Kronobageriet (The Crown Bakery) on Östermalm. This is Stockholm's oldest preserved industrial building, with parts dating back to the 1640s! Imagine the history seeping out of those walls. For over 300 years, this structure was a military provision house, baking bread for the Swedish Crown and the army. 🍞⚔️

The well-preserved facade retains its beautiful, vintage look, providing a stark yet elegant contrast to the modern cultural life housed inside. It became a protected state building in 1935—a proper piece of living history! Anna and I spent our lunch dissecting everything from the challenges of working with silk in costume design to the sheer power of historical architecture.
