What if Toys Could Tell Stories?

On July 25, 2024, I captured a series of photos at Leksaksmuseet, the Stockholm Toy Museum, during a surprise birthday celebration for my friend, Magnus Boren. The images showcase a vibrant array of toys, each with its own unique history, displayed within the museum's captivating subterranean setting.

Leksaksmuseet, nestled in the historic naval island of Skeppsholmen, offers visitors an immersive journey through time. The museum's extensive collection spans from early 20th-century artifacts to contemporary playthings, featuring:

- **Barbie Dolls**: An expansive display tracing the evolution of this iconic fashion doll.

- **Model Railways**: Intricately designed setups that captivate enthusiasts of all ages.

- **Star Wars Figures**: A tribute to the legendary sci-fi saga, showcasing a variety of collectibles.

- **Soft Toys and Dollhouses**: Charming exhibits that evoke nostalgia and imagination.

The museum's interactive design encourages engagement, making it an ideal destination for families, school groups, and toy aficionados. Regularly updated temporary exhibitions and special events ensure that each visit offers something new. Our day began behind the Nationalmuseum, where I surprised Magnus with breakfast—sandwiches and bubbly. We then cycled over the bridge to Skeppsholmen, where the real surprise awaited: a visit to the Toy Museum. Housed in an old army factory, the museum's expansive caves beneath Skeppsholmen added an extra layer of intrigue to our adventure.

Exploring the museum, we were transported back to our childhoods, reminiscing about toys we once cherished. The vast collection and interactive exhibits made the experience both educational and entertaining. Capturing these moments on camera allowed us to preserve the joy and wonder we felt that day.
