HOW I GOT TO FINALLY SEE ARV, THE INHERITANCE…

Spending the day at Dramaten 🎭, Sweden's Royal Theatre, watching the eight-hour epic *Arv* (*The Inheritance*) by Matthew Lopez. 🌈✨ This modern masterpiece delves into love, loss, and the legacy of the LGBTQ+ community post-AIDS crisis. Matthew Lopez, a Tony-winning playwright, crafted this sweeping narrative inspired by E.M. Forster’s *Howards End*. It’s a tale of connection, generational trauma, and hope—told with raw emotion and sharp wit. 📝  

The audience was not as full of gay men as I anticipated 🌈😂, but I did spot a few familiar faces. The show is divided into two parts with a one-hour dinner break between them 🍔, and each part has three acts separated by shorter breaks.  

I first saw *The Inheritance* on the West End in London a few years ago, and it instantly became one of my all-time favorites. This Swedish production was phenomenal—easily the best play I’ve seen in 2024! 🙌👏 Directed with precision and heart, with standout performances by David Fukamachi Regnfors and Johan Holmberg 💯.  

During the break, I dashed to Norrmalmstorg and grabbed two vegan burgers from Max 🍔🌱, Sweden’s beloved fast-food chain known for its innovative vegan menu options and commitment to sustainability. 🌍 I devoured them on a park bench overlooking Berzelii Park 🍃, soaking in the crisp winter air.  

Part two was as mesmerizing as the first. An unforgettable day of storytelling and theatre magic! ✨🎭

HOW I GOT READY FOR AN EIGHT HOUR LONG SHOW…

Starting the day by editing yesterday’s Instagram stories 🎥📲—gotta keep the content flowing! Then it’s subway time 🚇 because my bike’s got a flat tire 😩. Rocking a silver sequin baseball jacket ✨, yellow beanie from COS 🟡, bright green scarf from Fotografiska 🟢, and H&M Studio sunglasses 🕶️, I head to Östermalmstorg for an 8-hour theatre marathon at Dramaten’s small stage 🎭.  

The show? Matthew Lopez’s *The Inheritance* (*Arv*)—a deeply moving, epic play about love, legacy, and the LGBTQ+ community 🏳️‍🌈. Told in two parts, it explores the lives of gay men in New York a generation after the AIDS crisis. It’s raw, real, and emotional.  

Since there’s a heightened terror threat in Sweden, bulky jackets and big bags are a no-go in the auditorium 🚨, so I had to pack smart. But let me tell you, this outfit screams “nightclub chic” rather than “brunch casual” 😂. Walking around Dramaten, I show you the backstage doors where they bring in the sets 🎭🚪—and I fully expect a fabulous audience, heavy on the gay men 🌈.

HOW I GOT GOCHUJAG, GOCHUGAROAND A PILLBOX

Starting my day by editing yesterday's Instagram stories 🎥📲—because the content grind never stops! Then it’s time to tackle unpacking my suitcase 🧳 from the *interesting* family Christmas spa trip. (Spoiler: It was not exactly a vegan-friendly getaway 🥴).  

For lunch, I whip up a bowl of fried cabbage 🥬, beans, chickpea tofu, and red lentil tofu—all coated in *gochujang* (a spicy Korean chili paste 🌶️ with a hint of sweetness) and *gochugaru* (vibrant red chili flakes 🌶️ with a smoky flavor). This combo is so delicious I’m officially obsessed 😍.  

Meanwhile, my friend Ulf ends up in the emergency room 🚑 with some intestinal issues—sending all the healing vibes his way 🙏❤️.  

The lunch was so good I need more cabbage, gochujang, and gochugaru STAT! 🛒 Off to Liljeholmenstorgets Galleria, where I search high and low for the cheapest pillbox 💊 (because multitasking is life). When I finally find one, the cashier gives me the sweetest compliment about my style 🖤✨.

HOW I GOT MY STRAPLESS SUEDE BAG

Starting my day by editing yesterday's Instagram stories 🎥📱—you know the drill! Then it’s off to Coop 🛒 to pick up a parcel from my favorite second-hand app, Vinted 👗. Drumroll, please... It’s a grey suede bag from the iconic 2009 Jimmy Choo x H&M collab 😍👜. Sadly, it’s missing the shoulder strap, but hey, thrift life is full of surprises!  

After unpacking my treasure, I hop on my bike 🚲 and ride to Liljeholmenstorgets Galleria for some essentials. Wine? Check 🍷. Groceries? Check 🥬🍞. Back home in my cozy Midsommarkransen apartment 🏡, I FaceTime Magnus 💻🍸. We sip cocktails and chat about our New Year’s plans 🎉—it’s going to be epic!  

Next up: cleaning 🧹✨. After a less-than-stellar Christmas at a spa with zero vegan options (still recovering from that bread-and-butter breakfast 😅🥖), it’s SO nice to be back in my space, recharging for the new year.

HOW I GOT HOME AFTER ONE OF THE WORST CHRISTAMSES

Editing yesterday’s Instagram stories is how my day begins 📱✨—but breakfast? Oh, that's a whole other story 🤦‍♂️. Staying at *Stufvenäs Gästgiveri* with my family over Christmas has been... let’s just say, not a highlight. Despite calling TWICE to inform them I’m vegan, breakfast was just bread and butter. 🙃🥖 I made sure they knew how I felt and guess what? They agreed I shouldn’t have to pay for their "offerings" 😅.  

Back in Mörbylånga, I stocked up on *julmust* 🥤 and peanuts 🥜 for my bus trip back to Stockholm later in the day. But before that, I stopped by my cousin Carina’s to return a brush my mom borrowed at the spa. And lunch? Now THAT’S how you do it. Vegan *kroppkakor* with butter, cream, and lingonberry jam. Pure heaven 🍴😍.  

Highlight of the day: my mom rapping 🎤🔥—she’s an undiscovered talent, I swear!  

Then it was time to head home 🚗. My dad drove me to Färjestaden, where I hopped on the bus to Stockholm. Quick pit stop in Ringarum = vegan burger break 🍔💚. Fast forward a few hours, I’m back in Midsommarkransen 🏡, ready to recharge and relive the chaos through my lens. There’s nothing like being home, is there?

Mad tv and Day of the week

 Mad TV's iconic parody *Days of the Week* hilariously pokes fun at soap opera tropes while delivering absurd comedy gold. A pitch-perfect satire of the melodramatic style seen in shows like *Days of Our Lives,* the sketch reimagines a soap opera where the drama is as over-the-top as the situations are mundane. The exaggerated acting, nonsensical plot twists, and ridiculous dialogue are elevated by its “serious” tone, making the humor even sharper. 

The title itself sets the stage for its absurdity—why name a show after the days of the week? Because it’s as arbitrary as the lives of the characters depicted. *Days of the Week* is filled with amnesia plots, forbidden romances, and dramatic betrayals that spiral into increasingly surreal territory. 

The humor lies in the show's ability to mimic the visual and narrative elements of a traditional soap opera while throwing logic out the window. It’s the perfect mix of clever writing and exaggerated performances by the cast, making it a beloved sketch for fans of both Mad TV and irreverent comedy.

HOW I GOT NO BREAKFAST, NO LUNCH, NO DINNER

Waking up at the spa Stufvenäs Gästgiveri sounds like a dream… but this vegan Christmas quickly turned into a comedy of errors. 🎄🥴 I’m here with my parents, my cousin Carina, and her fiancé Åke to celebrate, but despite calling ahead to confirm they’d have vegan options for me, the reality was… disappointing. 😒

Breakfast? Two slices of vegan cheese, no butter, some bread, and yogurt. That’s it. 🍞🧀 And guess what? I still paid the same as all the other guests enjoying their lavish spreads. 😤 Lunch wasn’t much better: a choice of side salads and, oh wait, they “forgot” to serve the vegan meal they had for me. 🤯 By then, I was on my phone writing reviews to let everyone know how “welcoming” their vegan accommodations were. ✍️💻

Dinner was a spectacle. The staff, clearly feeling the pressure of my feedback, went all out to overcompensate, making it even more awkward. 😬🍽️ Thankfully, the day wasn’t a total bust. The heated outdoor pool with mamma and Cina saved the experience. 🌊✨  

Not the Christmas I dreamed of, but at least it makes for a funny video! 😂  

✨ Back in Midsommarkransen, Stockholm, I’m usually all about creativity and joy, from vegan cooking to musical theatre life. But even I have my limits. Still, I love sharing the highs and lows of my everyday adventures with you. 💕
