Join me on a whimsical birthday journey blending history, culture, and deliciousness! From the serene beauty of Ulriksdal Palace, with its rich Swedish royal heritage and exquisite rococo interiors, to the vibrant, mouthwatering madness of Street Food Festivalen 2025, this video offers a feast for your eyes and soul.
Ulriksdal Palace, nestled on the peaceful Edsviken Bay north of Stockholm, began life in the 1640s as Jacobsdal. It became Ulriksdal thanks to Queen Hedvig Eleonora, and over centuries transformed from royal residence to a retreat, and even a WWII hospital. The palace’s interiors are a stunning mix of Rococo, Gustavian elegance, and Romanticism — especially notable in the Green Drawing Room and the intricately carved chapel. Its lush baroque garden and the Orangery housing Sweden’s National Museum of Sculpture make it a timeless destination. Nearby, the Confidencen theatre remains a secret treasure for culture lovers.
Our palace visit was unexpectedly accompanied by rain — a perfect excuse to seek shelter in a quaint gazebo, sharing laughs and stories. Then, thanks to our lovely friend Cicki, we made it back to Stockholm in time to dive into Street Food Festivalen 2025, an epic celebration of global street cuisine featuring over 50 vendors. Whether craving spicy tacos, Korean BBQ, vegan burgers, or decadent sweets, this festival delivers! The live music, DJ sets, dance performances, and fun workshops on food photography and cooking made the day unforgettable.
This year’s festival also champions sustainability with eco-friendly packaging and a zero-waste initiative, welcoming all diets and ensuring guilt-free indulgence. Kids had their play zones, while adults enjoyed craft beers, exotic cocktails, and specialty coffees.
Watch as Magnus enjoys a dreamy ice cream cone while I savor a savory arepa, ending our day utterly content and ready to dream of our next adventure.
