UNPACKING CHAOS, BROKEN SHOES & GETTING TRAPPED BY RAIN – POST-TRIP SWED...

Ever come home from a trip and have the “real life” part of the story be even more chaotic than the trip itself? 👜🌧️

Back from a weekend at my parents’ place in the beautiful village of Mörbylånga on Öland 🌾🏡, you’d think the drama was over. Not so. This vlog begins with the ritual of return: unpacking, cleaning, and making sense of the treasures and lessons a trip leaves behind.

🧳 Unpacking & Lessons Learned
The suitcase is vacuumed, wiped down, and revived with The Pink Stuff — a miraculous cleaner that makes scuff marks vanish. Inside, gifts and keepsakes emerge: three graceful electric candles from my mother 🕯️, hollyhock seeds for my friend Martin 🌸, and the two great travel lessons of this weekend:
1️⃣ Always write down your exact train or bus times in your calendar.
2️⃣ Always bring a sunglasses case so you don’t lose them 😎.

🚗 An Afternoon with Ulf
My friend Ulf arrives, and I gift him a cumin bread from Öland 🍞. We head to the Dollar Store — where “essentials” like soap are joined by a parade of silly finds 🛒🤣. Then, disaster: my sandal breaks mid-shop 👡💔. We recover, pick up wine 🍷, and panta Ulf’s bottles — for those unfamiliar, “panta” is the Swedish system of returning bottles for recycling and receiving a small deposit refund ♻️💰.

🌯 Takeaway & The Rain Trap
Aleppo Kebab is our dinner destination, ordered to-go. Ulf drops me home, but I can’t resist a bike ride to the store 🚴. Inside, I’m caught by an extraordinary downpour — the kind that imprisons you behind automatic doors as sheets of rain hammer the streets ⛈️. There’s nothing to do but wait, watch, and laugh.
