MANHATTAN

YOU WILL REQUIRE

Bourbon whiskey, 2 1/2 ounces
Sweet vermouth, 1 ounce
2-3 dashes of fragrant bitters (we use Angostura)
Cherry maraschino, for decoration
Peeled oranges as a garnish

DIRECTIONS

While preparing the Manhattan, completely fill a martini glass with ice to keep it chilled.

With a few ice cubes, combine whiskey, sweet vermouth, and bitters in a shaker or glass. Stir or lightly shake. Don't go overboard; you don't want the ice to dilute the beverage. Remove ice from martini glass, strain Manhattan into chilled glass, top with cherry, and garnish with orange peel.

HOW I GOT TO CELEBRATE FEBOURBONARY

So, Martin suddenly showed up, craving bourbon...

BOULEVARDIER:

1.25 ounces whiskey bourbon
1 ounce Red vermouth that is sweet or semisweet
1 ounce Try using clear ice while serving Campari Ice!
As a garnish: Orange rind

Mix the Campari, sweet vermouth, and bourbon whiskey together in a cocktail mixing glass. One handful of ice should be added to the mixing glass. Stir continuously for 30 seconds.
Pour the beverage into a lowball glass filled with ice (or you can use a cocktail glass without ice).
Slice an orange peel into a 1-inch-wide strip using a knife. To release the oils, squeeze the orange peel into the beverage. After running the peel carefully around the glass's rim, put it inside and serve.

It's February first, so it's officially FEBOURBONARY

Is it required to be produced in Kentucky?

It's simple to believe that bourbon is only produced in the "Bluegrass State" because the two regions are so closely associated. Furthermore, 95% of the supply in the globe, according to the Kentucky Distillers' Association, originates in Kentucky. However, the truth is that it can be made everywhere in America, and new bourbon distilleries are constantly springing up all over the place.

Can it be produced abroad besides America?

No, according to federal regulations governing bourbon's identity, it must be a "distinctive product of the United States" and the term "bourbon" cannot be used to refer to whiskey or whiskey-based distilled spirits made elsewhere.

What makes bourbon and whiskey different from one another?

A whiskey's mash, or the mixture of grains from which the beverage is distilled, must include at least 51% corn in order for it to be referred to be bourbon. The distillate must be stored in charred new oak barrels at a proof of 125 or less and must not include any additives. The mash must be distilled at a proof of 160 or less.

Where did the term "bourbon" originate?

The name "bourbon" is extremely ambiguous in its history. However, Bourbon County in Kentucky and Bourbon Street in New Orleans are the most well-known rivals. Both names derive from the House of Bourbon, a French-born European royal family.

Febourbonary - Bourbon Rickey

The rickey is a gin or bourbon-based highball with lime juice and carbonated water. The rickey contains little or no sugar. Bartender George A. Williamson made it with bourbon in Washington, D.C.'s Shoomaker's saloon in the 1880s, allegedly in partnership with Democratic lobbyist Colonel Joe Rickey. A decade later, when it was blended with gin, it became even more popular.

Ingredients that are frequently utilized

bourbon, rye whiskey, or gin, 2 oz.

Squeezed half of a lime and poured into the a highball glass

Mineral water that sparkles

Preparation

In a highball or wine glass, combine the spirit, lime, and shell. Stir in the ice before adding the sparkling mineral water.
