We’re invited to a spontaneous backyard hangout with our friends Majsan and Stickan. It’s suddenly a Swedish summer day—the warm kind where everyone drops everything to enjoy the sun ☀️🌿

We take a boat to reach their house on the mainland 🚤, and we’re welcomed by their dog Åke 🐶, a patio feast of hot dogs (vegan for me 🌭🌱), and a surprise: Limoncello in prosecco 🍋🥂. A sparkling revelation!

**What if backstage moments were the real show? 🎭📸**

Throwback to June 14, 2024, at **Turteatern** in Kärrtorp, where my friend **Christian Hedenfeld** and I took this selfie with the set of that year’s farce, *Oj, en till!* in the background. The show was a hilarious whirlwind, featuring **Robert Gustafsson** playing three brothers—cue the quick changes, stand-ins, and all the backstage magic! 🎬✨

 Christian and I go way back, but we only started working together in **2018** as dressers for *Så som i himmelen*. Since then, we teamed up again on *Tootsie*, and nowadays, he’s at **Folkoperan**, even sewing costumes for *Trollflöjten*. Always in a **shirt** (seriously, have I ever seen him in anything else? 🤔😂).

TURN OF THE SCREW TANKAR

Min kompis Magnus gick i pausen, men min kompis Martin verkade uppskatta musiken mycket mer än jag gjorde. Jag önskar att jag var mer av en finsmakare, men jag är en sån som känner skillnad på rödvin och vitt vin (om jag inte blundar), och min musiksmak är lite likadan. Det enkla, snabba, lättillgängliga är min melodi: Mozart, Puccini, Bizet och Offenbach. Mycket Offenbach, tack. THE TURN OF THE SCREW bygger på en berättelse av Henry James och handlar om en kvinna i mitten av 1800-talet som får jobb som guvernant åt två barn som bor med en hushållerska i ett avlägset gods. Väl där visar det sej att barnen är förföljda av två spöken av två tidigare anställda som barnen kände. Operan följer originalhistoren ganska väl, och tyvärr är det inte en vidare bra spökhistoria. Den känns konstruerad, ihopknåpad. En spökhistoria, tycker jag, ska vara lite som en detektivhistoria: det ska finnas en hemlighet, en överraskning, och när det är slut måste man känna att man lärt sej något, men här avslöjas det ganska tidigt vilka de två spökena är, och vad de har för relation till varandra, men det blir aldrig klart vad de har för relation till barnen, eller vad de vill med dom. Svaret verkar vara att "spöken spökar" och så gräver man inte mer i det. Världen ser annorlunda ut än när Henry James och Benjamin Britten levde, och jag antar att man inte såg riktigt samma problematik som vi, i att en medelålders man verkar besatt av en prepubertal pojke. Det manliga spöket bryr sej nämligen bara om honom, och har inget som helst förhållande till flickan, och hennes och det kvinnliga spökets förhållande verkar inte alls lika laddat. Visst, man kanske inte kan säga att något förhållande mellan en levande och en död är sunt, men det är något riktigt sjukt över det här. Scenografin föreställer ett trapphus i något som får mej att associera till en skola. Det känns inte som en herrgård eller ett gods, och absolut inte som ett hem. Kanske ska det föreställa ett sjukhus? Till en början tycker jag mycket om det, men eftersom handlingen utspelar sej på flera olika platser, medans scenografin blir densamma, blir det förvirrande. Som när de säger att de skar springa ner till sjön, men stannar kvar i trapphuset, eller när man säger att man är i någons rum, men är fortfarande i trapphuset. Min största behållning av föreställningen är skådespeleriet. Speciellt skådespelarna som spelar barnen - och tack och lov är de barn - är imponerande. Jag har sett så många hemska uppsättning där barnen känns konstlade och självmedvetna, men här ligger de på en nivå som vuxna - begåvade - skådespelare. Jag tror, att om du ska se en uppsättning av THE TURN OF THE SCREW, så är detta ett mycket bra val. Det känns gediget, kunnigt, och skådespeleri och sång imponerar.

TANKAR EFTER GENREPET AV FOLKOPERANS DON CARLOS

Jag ville verkligen tycka om den här föreställningen, både för att jag gillar Folkoperan, och för att jag har gillat mycket av det som deras nya konstnärlige ledare, Tobias Theorell, har gjort. Jag ÄLSKADE hans SVARTA DJURET SORG, av Anja Hilling, på Dramatens lilla scen. Men det här var besvärligt. Jag önskar att jag var mer av en operakonnässör, men till och med en tondöv klumpeduns som jag kunde höra att sången var fantastiskt, och att orkestern var suverän. Och skådespeleriet - som ofta med operasångare - mycket bra. Mitt problem var att jag inte förstod. Jag förstod inte varför man hade valt att sätta upp den här operan, och att sen skala ner den och skala av så mycket. Många gånger förstod jag inte vad som sjöngs på scenen. Folkoperan framför alltid sina verk på svenska, och tyvärr bröt några av sångarna så kraftigt att jag många gånger inte förstod vad en scen, eller en sång handlade om. Och då hade jag ändå läst ett sammandrag av librettot. Jag förstod inte om textmaskinen var sönder, eller om det var ett konstnärligt val att man bara textade delar av sångerna, och att man ibland skrev saker som "X förklarar sin Kärlek för Y", alltså mer en sammanfattning av en hel scen. Jag förstod många gånger inte handlingen, som i: "Vad är det som händer på scenen? Var är dom, vem är han, var gör hon?", och jag förstod många gånger inte tolkningen: som i "Vad är det meningen att vi ska känna här? Vem ska vi sympatiera med? Skulle vi skratta här?" Jag förstod inte heller varför kläderna var en blandning av olika tidsåldrar, från renässans fram till nutid. Utspelade det sej nu, eller då, och jo, det är viktigt: en kung som beter sej på ett visst sätt på 1500-talet är något helt annat än en man som beter sej så i dagens samhälle. Ett vitaminpiller var en ungdomskör som kom in och med liv och lust agerade flamländska revolutionärer, under det att de sjöng som du och jag, om vi hade varit musikalartister.
