On FaceTime with my friend Magnus (fresh from an audition in Åbo for Little Shop of Horrors 🌱🎶), we toast September. It was meant to be SepterbeRUM… then TRIPLE SECtember. Except my triple sec was nowhere to be found, so a Negroni it was. A mix of improvisation, tradition, and friendship.

Come with me as I step into the magical, chaotic, and endlessly stylish world of theatre life in Stockholm. Today marks my very first day working as a dresser and costume supervisor on a brand-new show. But as always, life is never just work—it is food, fashion, wit, and a touch of chaos.

🌟 The Morning Ritual
I rise early, at seven, because time at home is essential before diving into the day’s drama. By 09:30, I am at the theatre, settling into the atelier, already surrounded by costumes, fabrics, and possibilities. The first day is not about rushing—it is about absorbing the stage before the curtain rises.

👒 The People
I meet Lisa, our temporary production assistant, and David, the extraordinary man behind makeup and wigs. Instantly, the world comes alive. Lisa, in her Emil i Lönneberga cap—called a mysse—is already a character in the play of the day. Together we discover a linguistic comedy: “Superbra jobbat” (well done!) in Swedish sounds suspiciously like “super blow your butt” in English. Darling, one must love a workplace that delivers both theatre and slapstick. 💨😂

🌽 The Food
Lunch is a sweet corn hiyashi, cool, light, and ambiguous—sauce or dressing? Does it matter when it’s divine? My afternoon treat is a delicate red lentil pancake, proving that even snacks can carry the elegance of couture.

🧵 The Work
Of course, there is always labour behind the glamour. I spend part of the afternoon in the attic, moving costumes that have become safety hazards. It’s less “runway” and more “rafters,” but darling, this is theatre: beauty balanced against chaos.

🍅 The Evening
After work, I glide home on my bike, stopping at Ica for scandalously cheap tomatoes. At home, I craft the perfect pasta with tomato sauce. Simple, divine, the way all finales should be.

At Scandinavium, I start the day by deringing all the show costumes—methodical, repetitive, but deeply satisfying. But then… downpour! Gothenburg unleashes a monsoon just as I step out. Drenched to the core, I run back to my hotel. Thank god for heated towels and a 19th-floor view over @lisebergab 🎡🌧️

🍽️ EVENING — VEGAN ADVENTURE TO MAJORNA

After realizing I’ve eaten nothing all day, I rent a @styristall bike and make my way to one of Gothenburg’s gems: @blackbird_vegan_bar. Set menu, 299 SEK:

🎭 Life on tour is always an adventure… but nothing beats waking up 19 floors above Gothenburg with a front-row view of 🎡 @lisebergab! This week we’re performing at @svandinaviumsrena, living our best lives at the gorgeous @gothiatowers 💫 I mean, can it get better? Actually—YES! My room is right next to the glass elevators—the best Liseberg view as you ride! 🎢 For fun, I named them: the left one is Queen SILVIA 👑 and the right one? ELLA VATOR, of course 😏.

Tiny drama: my heels betrayed me, so I’m living my tour life in… slippers 🩴😬 Stylish? No. Practical? Absolutely.

This is my third time performing at Skandinavium—first MAMMA MIA! 💃, then SÅ SOM I HIMMELEN 🎶, and now we’re back! The stage is up, the crew is buzzing ⚡️, and we’re ready to go. Meanwhile, poor Johanna on the 14th floor can’t even use the elevator—turns out it’s express-only! 🤯

I kick off my day with a next-level vegan breakfast at Percy’s 🍓🥑☕️—hello fresh fruit, sourdough, and oat lattes 💚 Then David (our amazing makeup artist 💄) and I rent bikes 🚲 and head into Malmö, cycling through Hyllie to the ultra-modern VÄSTRA HAMNEN 🌊🌳

Turning Torso is WILD 🤯 It twists and towers like a sculpture 🌀📸 We feel like tourists—laughing, sweating, sightseeing 💦😆 We try to hit an Asian buffet 🍱 but oops—it’s closed for the holiday 🙃

Plan B? The 100% vegan HUMMUSSON 🥙🌿 where David falls in true falafel love 😍💍 He says it’s the best hummus he’s ever had 😋 Flavor bombs everywhere 💥

Ever wondered what a day in the life of a Swedish theatre content creator looks like? 🎭🇸🇪 From editing videos and uploading nostalgic iPhone photos to mixing Midori cocktails and cooking up surprisingly good meals — this vlog has it all!

📱 My day starts with editing yesterday’s Instagram stories, syncing the video across all my social media outlets (Instagram, TikTok, YouTube Shorts), and uploading a nostalgic gem — the oldest photo on my iPhone. I share it, then erase it from my phone, making space for fresh memories 📸✨.

🚴‍♂️ Then it’s time to bike to ICA at Liljeholmstorgets Galleria for vegan groceries. Lucky me, instant noodles and tomatoes are on SALE! 🍜🍅 I get curious: Can you combine them into something tasty? (Spoiler alert: You absolutely can!)

🧳 Back home, it’s suitcase time. We’re heading out on tour soon, so I pull my giant silver Samsonite from under the bed. It’s dusty — like desert-level dusty. Cue the pre-tour chaos! 🎭🌍

🍸 Since it's May, my friend Magnus and I celebrate what we call MayDori — a month of Midori-based cocktails. Today’s star: the JAPANESE SLIPPER 💚 (1 part Midori, 1 part Cointreau, 1 part lemon juice). I FaceTime Magnus and he’s created an Emerald Isle cocktail, and even gone a step further — writing TWO Midori-themed songs on Suno.com 🎶✨.

🥂 Naturally, I try an Emerald Isle myself. Spoiler: it’s AMAZING. And speaking of surprising culinary wins, I mix those instant noodles with chopped tomatoes... and it’s a game-changer. Who knew simple ingredients could spark such joy?

A little chaos ☕️🐕, a golden retriever, a clogged sink, and a bruised knee? Just an average Sunday for me and Ulf!

Let's dive into this day-in-the-life adventure filled with editing, organizing, vegan food, and a lot of laughter. 🎬🍜

My day kicks off like every morning: editing yesterday’s Instagram Stories 📱✨ and prepping them for all my social media outlets 🌍. After exporting the clips and crafting new captions 💬, I upload the *oldest photo on my iPhone* 📸, then erase it — my little ritual to stay nostalgic and fresh. 🧡

With that done, it's cardio time! 🏃‍♂️ 30 minutes on my crosstrainer while blasting podcasts 🎧 — working out mind and body. Afterward, I finish off my homemade vegan Dan Dan noodles 🍜🌱 from the night before. Seriously, they taste even better the next day! 😋

Then it’s off 🚴‍♂️ — but first, a quick stop to recycle some cardboard ♻️ because being a grown-up means handling your recyclables! 📦

At Ulf’s, we’re greeted by his sweet neighbor Helen 🏢, who lives on the twelfth floor and invites us up for coffee ☕️ and a jaw-dropping city view 🌇. Her enormous golden retriever 🐕 steals the show and plenty of cuddles.

Fun fact: last time at Ulf’s, I dropped a slice of pizza on his white rug 🍕😳. Now there’s a giant stain hiding under a very strategic tea towel. 🥴

Next, we tackle Ulf's chaotic storage room in the basement 📦🚪 — so much to recycle! I even score a brand-new orange wire mesh table from IKEA 🍊🛋️ (winning!). On the way to the recycling hut, Ulf has a playful mishap with Helen's dog 🦮, gets tangled in the leash, and falls, scraping his knee 😬 — what seemed minor turned black-and-blue a week later! 😱

Coming back upstairs, Ulf tackles a clogged sink 🛁 — not glamorous but necessary (and hilarious 🤢😂). We end the day cozied up watching *Hacks* on Netflix 🎭🍷 — the perfect wind-down.

What if the understudies had to go on tonight?

Two seasoned performers, aged dramatically by makeup, caught moments before stepping into legendary shoes 🎭 This is the oldest photo on my iPhone — snapped backstage at the theatre on September 13, 2024, during a full understudy runthrough. It features Joakim Jennefors and Pontus Wonkawaara, prepped and poised, ready to take on roles that usually belong to icons.

Joakim, dressed in a robe originally used in My Fair Lady 👘, is the cover for Gottfrid, typically played by the one and only Tommy Körberg. Pontus, in a classic black tee 🖤, is covering Axel, usually portrayed by the charismatic Fredrik Lycke.  

 

Understudy runthroughs are theatre's version of a fire drill 🚨 — costumes, wigs, makeup, lights, emotions, everything. It’s an adrenaline rush 🏃‍♂️💥 but also an important ritual: rehearsing the worst-case scenario so it doesn’t feel quite so worst when it happens.

The hallway is dim and quiet, humming with nerves and whispered lines 🤫🧳. I remember watching them get ready — the transformation was striking. The age makeup, the intensity in their eyes, the professionalism they brought. This is what it means to be ready 💼✨

This moment reminds me why I love working backstage. The quiet heroes of theatre 👏 Those who wait, prepare, and then — maybe — shine 🕯️🌟
