This photo, taken on November 24, 2023, captures a fun moment in the makeup room at the theatre. I asked my talented colleague, David Julio—the theatre's makeup artist, designer, and wig wizard—to strike a pose because I had plans to run his photo through an app that transforms the room entirely. As you can see from the following images, the effect is impressive! David’s odd smile here, which he insists looks fantastic on camera, has a hint of the uncanny—something I can't help but laugh at every time I look at it.
Behind him on the shelves are vintage-style ads from old magazines that I gifted David for each new show we've tackled together. Each ad represents our hard work, celebrating makeup, fashion, and hair from eras past. They add a unique charm to the room and make for a nostalgic display of our teamwork over the years.
You might also spot a reflection of me in the makeup mirror. I’m wearing my “Hellooo” T-shirt from the *Mrs. Doubtfire* show in London, a souvenir from my 2022 trip with my friend Magnus. It’s a special memory of a great time spent exploring new productions and taking inspiration back home to Stockholm.
For anyone who enjoys the behind-the-scenes magic of theatre life, this is for you! There’s something surreal and thrilling about the space where creativity and transformation take place, and this photo really captures a moment of that magic.
Have you ever taken a photo where someone’s smile turned out unintentionally creepy? Let me know below, and don’t forget to swipe to see how the app remade the space!
