This is the oldest photo on my phone, taken on November 24, 2023, at the costume shop in our theatre—or the costume atelier, as we like to call it. My colleague Johanna is sitting on our worn-but-cozy sofa, looking deep in thought, with a coat on her lap that I suspect belongs to Helen Sjöholm, who plays Rut in the show. Johanna might be fixing the coat’s pocket to keep Rut’s glasses secure during the dramatic fire scene!
The little pink plastic Christmas tree on the table tells us the holidays are on their way, bringing a bit of festive cheer to our busy workshop. Also on the table, you’ll spot two boxes of cookies—most likely brought in by David Julio, our makeup artist and wig designer, who has a reputation for sneaking treats into the atelier. David usually takes a single cookie for himself and then generously leaves the rest for us—a small act of kindness that keeps everyone’s spirits high.
In the background, Tord's costume top is hanging on the rack, possibly awaiting repairs. I can’t recall exactly why it ended up here, but the rack in the atelier is where all costumes with "urgent fixes" land, ready to be restored to their former glory.
The second photo shows this same scene, but with a twist! I ran it through an AI filter to add a fresh, unexpected vibe. It’s incredible how a digital lens can turn an ordinary moment into something totally surreal.
Working in theatre is more than creating costumes; it's about crafting memories in spaces like these, with friends and funny routines that bring everyone closer. This photo isn’t just a snapshot—it’s a reminder of the community behind the scenes, where every stitch, every cookie, and even the tiniest pink Christmas tree has a role in the magic.
