*Backstage Moments*

This is the oldest photo on my phone, taken on October 6, 2023, backstage at the theatre during a show. It captures a candid moment featuring actors Lindy Larsson and Martin Stokke Mathiesen. Martin is about to perform his big solo of the night, and as part of his pre-performance ritual, he’s stretching in preparation for the song. It’s something he always does before singing to get in the zone. Meanwhile, Lindy is casually standing nearby, admiring the view or maybe just taking a moment to breathe before his next scene.

 The photo was taken backstage, where the energy is always a mix of excitement and calm, as actors and crew focus on getting everything just right. The setting is filled with that unmistakable buzz of theatre life, with costumes hanging nearby, stage props in the corner, and the low hum of the audience just beyond the curtain. You can feel the anticipation building as Martin gets ready for his song.

Seeing the performers in their raw, real moments—whether it's stretching, taking deep breaths, or just silently prepping—is part of what makes working backstage so exciting. Lindy and Martin are both so talented, and moments like these remind me of the beauty of live performance—the unseen work that happens before the magic unfolds on stage.

Working as a dresser and costume supervisor, I get to witness these intimate pre-show rituals every night, and this one just felt worth capturing. It’s a glimpse into the quieter side of theatre, where preparation and nerves meet professionalism and passion.
