Kamikaze

The Kamikaze cocktail is a bold, tangy, and refreshing drink that became popular in the 1970s and 1980s, often associated with the rise of cocktail culture in that era. Named after the Japanese word for "divine wind," the Kamikaze is a potent and straightforward mix of vodka, triple sec, and lime juice, known for its balance of citrusy tartness and sweetness with a solid alcohol backbone.

 I part vodka,

1 part lime juice,

1 part triple sec,

### Preparation:

To make a Kamikaze, simply combine all the ingredients in a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake well until the mixture is thoroughly chilled, then strain it into a chilled martini glass. You can also serve it over ice in a rocks glass if you prefer it as a more casual drink. Some bartenders garnish the cocktail with a lime wedge to enhance the citrusy flavors.

The Kamikaze is often described as a vodka-based version of the Margarita, given its similar use of citrus and triple sec. However, the clean flavor of vodka gives it a sharper, more intense profile. It's also a versatile cocktail, enjoyed both as a shooter and as a sippable drink.

Due to its simplicity, the Kamikaze lends itself well to variations. You might encounter versions that swap out lime for lemon juice or add a splash of cranberry for a pink "Raspberry Kamikaze." Despite its somewhat aggressive name, this cocktail is approachable, with a bright, zesty kick that makes it a popular choice for those seeking something both strong and flavorful.
