In this funny and entertaining video, I am on my way to my friend Magnus's place for an evening full of surprises! When I turned 60, Magnus was in South America, so we didn't celebrate. But all that will change now: we have this thing where instead of giving each other a lot of presents, we sort of give each other a day filled with surprises. All the recipient knows is that the other person is in charge of everything that day.
So the evening started just as Magnus opened the door to his apartment: he fired off some fireworks that set off the fire alarm. So now we know it works. Then he gives me snacks and champagne, served out of the same glasses they use at the Nobel Prize dinner. Magnus has even decorated the room with balloons and signs that say "Happy Birthday."
Next, we play with Magnus's latest LEGO set, the Infinity Gauntlet. After a glass of rosé, it's off to the next surprise: a visit to a vegan restaurant I've been dying to go to, Växthuset.
The menu at Växthuset was as follows:
First dish: Grilled cucumber, ramps, sugar kelp, rhubarb, sunflower seeds
Second dish: Beetroot, Swedish raisins, sunflower seeds, lollo rosso, smoked mustard yogurt
Third dish: White asparagus, portobello, sauerkraut, pickled tomato, garlic oil
Fourth dish: Grilled King Oyster Mushroom, miso and plum glaze, quinoa, green peppercorn sauce, silverbeet, black garlic
Fifth dish: Tartlette, blueberry compote, crème diplomat, fresh berries
