In this funny and entertaining video, I start in Storkyrkan in Gamla Stan, Stockholm, where my friend Magnus and I are going on a tour of the bell tower. It was a fantastic experience, and when we got up in the tower, we got to go outside and the view of the old town and Stockholm was breathtaking.
The bell tower of Storkyrkan, located in Gamla Stan, Stockholm, is an iconic feature of the city's skyline. Dating back to the 13th century, this impressive structure has undergone several renovations, blending Gothic and Baroque architectural styles. The bell tower stands at a height of approximately 66 meters (216 feet), making it one of the most prominent landmarks in Stockholm's old town.
The tower houses the church's bells, including the "Storklockan," which was cast in 1638 and is renowned for its deep, resonant tone. Visitors who ascend the tower are rewarded with breathtaking panoramic views of Gamla Stan and the surrounding areas, including the Royal Palace and the waters of Lake Mälaren.
Inside, the tower's winding staircase and wooden beams provide a glimpse into the historical craftsmanship of the period. The climb to the top is an experience in itself, offering a sense of connection to the past as one navigates the narrow, time-worn steps.
The bell tower of Storkyrkan not only serves as a testament to Stockholm's rich architectural heritage but also as a vantage point for appreciating the city's beauty from above. It is a must-visit for history enthusiasts and anyone seeking a unique perspective on Stockholm.
After the tour, Magnus and I are really hungry, so we take our bikes to DIRTY TACO, a great restaurant at Folkungagatan.
