HOW I GOT TO KNOW EVERYTHING THERE IS TO KNOW #travelvlog #historylovers...

In this funny and entertaining video, I start the day by getting ready for a Stockholm church tour. Then I meet my friend Magnus at Storkyrkan in Gamla Stan. A week ago, we went on a guided tour of Gamla Stan and Riddarholmen, and we decided that today we would go sightseeing at Riddarholmskyrkan. There is a 30 percent chance of rain, so fingers crossed!

I brought a vegan lunch, sort of: a vegan egg salad sandwich. At Riddarholmskyrkan, we take hours and hours to explore the church. The architecture is absolutely stunning, and the history is fascinating. I suggest that instead of rushing through Storkyrkan, we visit it tomorrow. Magnus agrees, and we spend the rest of the day soaking in the rich heritage of Riddarholmskyrkan.

Riddarholmskyrkan, dating back to the late 13th century, is one of the oldest buildings in Stockholm and a prominent symbol of Sweden's royal heritage. Originally a Franciscan monastery, Riddarholmskyrkan became a royal burial church in the early 17th century. It houses the tombs of many Swedish monarchs, including Gustav II Adolph and Karl XII, as well as members of the nobility. The church's striking architecture features a combination of Gothic and Baroque styles, with a notable cast iron spire added in the 19th century.

The church's interior is adorned with numerous royal coats of arms, epitaphs, and ornate sarcophagi, reflecting the grandeur and history of the Swedish monarchy. Visitors can explore the church's chapels and crypts, where many royal family members are interred. Riddarholmskyrkan is no longer an active parish church but serves as a historical site and museum. It is open to the public for tours, providing a fascinating glimpse into Sweden's royal history and architectural evolution.
