These are the Oldest Photos on my Phone, taken on July 24, 2023, at the theatre where we were rehearsing for a brand-new show. This was the first time the cast and crew had gathered together, and for many, it was the first time meeting each other. Since this production was entirely new, never staged before, we didn’t know what to expect, but we all had a good feeling about it. The composer had worked on a previous hit, and there was a buzz of excitement in the air.
It was a hot summer day, and we all gathered in the theatre’s restaurant to hear a few words from the producer. The energy in the room was contagious, a mix of nervousness and excitement. The photos capture that moment perfectly—the laughter, the conversations, the introductions. Everyone was ready to dive into this new project, even though none of us knew quite what the final result would be.
The setting in the restaurant created an informal atmosphere where people could relax and get to know each other, sharing jokes and stories before we got down to work. Looking back, it’s clear that these early moments were so important in setting the tone for what would become an incredible experience. The mix of new friendships, the fresh creativity in the room, and the sense of collaboration made that day special.
These photos hold a lot of meaning for me. They remind me not only of the start of an exciting creative process but also of the personal connections made that day—some that have grown into lifelong friendships. I’ll always look back at these and smile, remembering that first gathering, full of hope and possibility. It’s a reminder that every project starts with an empty room and the people who fill it.
