The Oldest Photo on My Phone

This is the Oldest Photo on my Phone, taken July 2, 2023, at Kalvhagen in the village of Mörbylånga on the Swedish island Öland. The picture captures my old friend Ulf Nordlander attempting to take a close-up photo of moss growing on a massive rock. Ulf is wearing a bright yellow hoodie, and his crouched posture as he angles for the perfect shot looks unintentionally comical. The moment was quiet and peaceful, with the soft breeze carrying the scent of summer grass. It’s a memory that makes me smile every time I see it.

We had spent the afternoon exploring the natural beauty of the island. The colors were vivid—the yellow of Ulf's hoodie against the green landscape, and the contrast of the gray stone covered in moss. There was something almost magical about the simplicity of the scene. Ulf, totally focused on capturing the details, and me, just appreciating the moment.

This photo is special to me because it marks a carefree weekend spent with close friends. It was one of those spontaneous days that remind you how beautiful everyday moments can be. As the sun slowly set, we continued to wander through the fields, just enjoying the island's peaceful atmosphere.

Öland is known for its wide-open landscapes, charming coastal villages, and rich cultural history. It's a place where nature meets heritage, making it a popular destination for those seeking tranquility.
