"Rehearsal Break"

This is the oldest photo on my phone, taken on August 23, 2023, during a rehearsal on stage at the theatre. It's one of those in-between moments when the actors, Emilia Brown, Petter Mario Skoglund, Lindy Larsson, Jonas Schlyter, and Hanna Ulvan, aren’t in character but seem to be chatting, maybe enjoying a quick break. Despite the casual vibe, there’s mood lighting in place, which means our brilliant lighting designer, Mikael Kratt, is still working his magic. 

 The scene captures the kind of energy that only happens in a rehearsal space, where we’re all figuring things out together. There’s something so exciting about working on something that’s never been done before—no right answers, just endless possibilities. It’s moments like these that remind me why I love theatre so much. Everyone is contributing their own piece of the puzzle, and the creative process can be as chaotic as it is beautiful.

The theatre itself adds to the atmosphere, with the stage set for exploration and the crew running around with props and costumes. It’s a chaotic yet calming environment, where we’re all in the same boat, and every piece of feedback or idea could be the breakthrough we need. I remember feeling both nervous and excited—nervous because so much can go wrong at this stage, and excited because when it all clicks, it’s pure magic. 

Featuring some of the most talented actors I’ve had the pleasure to work with, this photo is a special snapshot of the behind-the-scenes reality of theatre life. These rehearsals, these moments, are where the real work happens before it all gets polished and presented to an audience.
