Rehearsal Magic

This is the Oldest Photo on my Phone, taken on August 17, 2023, during the rehearsals of the musical at the theatre. It features some of the incredible women in the cast rehearsing a lively number that was a huge hit with the audience. In the shot, you’ll see Carro Gustavsson, Sofia Pekkari, Jenny Holmgren, Helen Sjöholm, and Cissi Wrangel, all dressed as middle-aged women, complete with costumes and wigs. This was most likely a costume run-through. Moa, our set dresser, is hurrying by on stage, looking typically concerned, probably about something that wasn’t quite right. It’s a scene of organized chaos, and I love how it captures the energy of a busy rehearsal.

The photo was taken at the theatre, during one of those long but rewarding days leading up to the show’s premiere. The focus here is on the women as they rehearse a number that brought a lot of smiles to the audience’s faces once the show opened. The stage is buzzing with activity, and the set itself is just as lively as the performers.

What’s special about this photo is how it highlights the hard work behind the scenes. The costumes, the choreography, the set—it’s all a collaborative effort. For me, this photo is a snapshot of what I love about theatre: the teamwork, the creativity, and the sheer fun of it all. It’s a reminder of the work that goes into making magic happen on stage.

Looking at this now brings back so many memories. It's amazing to see how much everyone contributed to make the performance what it was. This was a moment of anticipation, excitement, and a bit of stress, all captured in one frame.
